Steamed Pork Patties with Tofu (豆腐蒸猪肉)

With the fishmongers being closed for the next two weeks, we would have to space out our fish dishes and replace with more meat and vegetables offerings.

Tonight is the eve of a public holiday and only three of us had dinner at home; the other two children had their own programmes. Hence, I decided to make this simple, but yummy dish. The best part of it, minimal preparation.

The only snag is that you would need to have tofu – the kind that labelled for steaming or for soup as well as minced pork in your fridge.

Ingredients:

1 box of Silken Tofu (300g)

90g minced pork (marinated with 1/2 teaspoon oyster sauce, 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil and dash of pepper)

1 teaspoon oyster sauce

2 teaspoons water

1/4 teaspoon sugar

1/8 teaspoon light soya sauce

1 teaspoon shallot/garlic oil

Method:

  1. Drain tofu of the liquid and cut into blocks of 4 or 5.
  2. Make the minced pork into thin patties and lay it on top of each tofu.

3. Mix oyster sauce, sugar, light soya sauce and water together. Add this gravy onto the tofu followed by shallot/garlic oil.

4. Steam for 7-8 minutes.

5. Garnish with spring onions and serve hot.
